Part of WONDER: Family Day
Responding to WONDER: Why We Believe in Magic exhibition, we’ll collectively create an astrology-themed deck of digital tarot cards. Hand-draw a celestial cosmic entity (sun/moon/planet/constellation/comet/something beyond!) on special layers ready to remix in 3D with depth effects in impossible perspectives (with the help of 3D glasses!). In an age where technology is deliberately made to feel mysterious beyond our understanding, try out custom-built digital tools that can bring your creations to life and make magic happen in ways you’ll learn to control, while giving your card powers and purpose of your choosing.
Your creations will contribute to a collaborative online gallery of tarot-style cards that will grow over the course of the workshop.
Compiler is a digital art collective led by Tanya Boyarkina and Oscar Cass-Darweish. The group's creative practice explores social and political challenges in digital culture. They aim to create accessible works and events for audiences with different skills, knowledge and abilities to better understand emerging digital technologies.
