Inspirational talent and skills development space for young people to meet arts organisations and creative professionals.

Are you a young person interested in a career in the creative industries? Unsure of the different creative roles that you can apply for and keen to make more creative contacts? Eager to find out more about what it's like to work for a creative organisation or interested in meeting other young people who are in a similar situation to you?

Join us to chat face to face with people working in the arts, gain first-hand experience of their own career development, learn about the different roles within arts organisations and seek advice for your own creative career. We will also be hosting an optional digital skills workshop during the drop-in.

FAQ

What do I do?

On arrival to Meeting the Creative Employers drop-ins, you will be greeted by one of our dynamic CJS team members and be given a tailored set of handouts including a who's-who of the professionals present, recommended reading list, some preparatory questions (if you need them), a pen - yes you may forget one!

Why come along?

It is a chance to polish up on your skills, bring along your CV or portfolio, meet future employers and collaborators and widen your network, build your address book and get top tips from friendly, experienced professionals.

How do I start the conversations?

All employers wear yellow lanyards so they will be easily identifiable. You can approach them as a 1-1 or in a small group and the CJS team are there to introduce and support you too. Ask direct questions you may not get to ask during an interview and have in-depth conversations with dynamic creative employers that are usually out of reach, so do take notes!
