Free, live music sets each Friday afternoon.

The Influence Project exhibition will host free, live music sets each Friday afternoon. Co-programmed by two Somerset House Residents, MOBO and Music For Youth, expect to see up-and-coming musical talent playing stripped back sets, surrounded by Alexis Chabala's photographic portraits of key R&B, Soul and Hip Hop pioneers.

As part of the East Wing Edit, Music for Youth is excited to showcase young talent that has emerged through both their Frequencies and New Music Stage projects.

SACHA T

Sacha T is an R&B/pop singer-songwriter from south London whose fiery vocals and powerful depictions of contemporary life are picking up notice in the capital.

KAYCEE
Kaycee is a 20 year-old singer-songwriter based in Leeds. Her sound combines R&B, soul and pop, taking influences from artists such as Emeli Sandé, Jazmine Sullivan and NAO.

ELLISION
ELLiSiON is finger drummer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Henry Dymott. This dexterous artist fuses lo-fi, glitch-hop and contemporary R&B, working with guest rappers, singers and producers.

TABITHA JADE
Liverpool’s multi-award winning Tabitha Jade has already been playlisted by BBC Introducing and BBC1X. Her debut EPs showcase a remarkably confident young singer with a string of dancefloor friendly tracks and having been picked as a top 20 artist in the Liverpool International Music Festival, this is a young musician on the up.

SHADEZ THE MISFIT
Shadez The Misfit is a musician from South London who delivers thought provoking lyrics and a combination of alternative & futuristic sounding Hip-Hop.

JOK$SHAN 
London R&B and Hip Hop artist Jok$han's music is a blend of R&B soul vibes with a storytelling rap, all mixed into one genre he likes to call ‘R & G’.

DREY CHEEKZ
East Londoner, Drey Cheekz is an RnB songstress with sultry and soulful vocals.

MADZ
Madz is a 22 year old rapper from South East London who has been making music from the age of 15. Madz blends elements of R&B and UK Rap to create his own unique sound.

JAY ALEXZANDER
Since he began making music at the age of 16, singer/songwriter Jay Alexzander has been merging the sounds of commercial R’n’B with neo-soul to create his own unique sound. His imaginative song writing style has been admired by the likes of Grammy Award-winning artist Billie Ocean.

BLUE SAINT
Blue Saint is a Congolese, Liverpool-based rapper, singer-songwriter, designer, poet, spoken word artist and producer blending hip hop, RnB and electronic music.

THE ELEPHANT TREES
Leeds and Manchester based The Elephant Trees create a beautiful mess of luscious riffs, melodic harmonies and poetic lyrics, fronted by 20 year-old Martha Phillips, whose raw songwriting leaves nothing unsaid.

ADZ
Whether it’s flipping old Bollywood samples or discussing the impact of racism in Brexit Britain, ADZ is crafting an authentic brand of conscious rap that’s reinvigorating and utterly contemporary.

DOMINIQUE LAURN
Singer/songwriter from South London with an eclectic RnB, soulful sound. Her recent track Gravity, which received airtime on BBC Radio 1Xtra, is her third release this year and she doesn't intend on slowing down, with more music on the way.

LA SWAVE
Essex based rapper and producer La Swave began producing music when he was a teenager and started rapping whilst at university when he created the London based collective HellaTurntSounds/HellaTurntUK (Stylised as HT$). He garnered a loyal following and national radio play with his debut single, touring across Europe and the US and securing a spot as a MOBO Unsung finalist.
