Despite often being very young and operating with limited resources, some of the most relevant and powerful video work in the country is being made and shared on platforms like GRM Daily, LinkUp, SBTV, Mixtape Madness, preceded by the now defunct Channel U / AKA. Still, there has been a lack of recognition of these achievements in the UK arts scene, and through this event COTCH plans to redress the balance.

Taking the form of a workshop, panel talk and afterparty, the conversation will focus on the rise of each creative, the obstacles they faced while carving out their career, and where they see the culture going next. There will also be a focus on the current spate of censorship that has seen many videos pulled from Youtube, and a look at the acceptance of Black British culture within the mainstream.

Featuring directors who’ve worked with the cream of new UK music, from Stormzy, J Hus, Stefflon Don, Dave, Krept & Konan, Section Boyz, WSTRN, and more.

Spaces for the workshop are limited. If you’re interested in taking part, please send us no more than 50 words telling us about yourself and why you would like to join the workshop. Apply by 24 August 2018.

Please note this event is for those aged 18+
