During this workshop, Skye will demonstrate how to darn, allowing you to mend a woven item such as a garment or homeware textile. Following this, you will have the opportunity to ask Skye questions. This workshop is suitable for beginners and is free to attend.

Materials Required:

  • Darning needle (these are generally longer and thicker than ordinary sewing needles - try and find a selection of needles to match the fabric you're darning)
  • If it's a thick weave, use a thick needle. If it's a fine weave, use a fine needle.
  • If you're darning wool, you'll need a relatively long needle with a large eye.
  • Darning mushroom (If you don't have a darning mushroom or darning egg, a small nectarine, apple or tennis ball)
  • Scissors
