Wayne McGregor's practice is rooted in choreographic movement, his work pushes the frontiers of physical intelligence – thinking through and with the body. In this film, commissioned and produced alongside the Somerset House exhibition, Infinite Bodies, McGregor reflects on the journey that led him to examine the body through a technological lens.
The film features an original interview, a vast library of archive, unseen behind the scenes footage, and a unique look into the creation of the works presented in the exhibition. McGregor shares insights into his formative experiences with his first ever computers, considering how early experiments with technology developed into his current practice, and looking at how collaboration is at the core of his creative approach. We follow the journey, questioning - how might we translate the body into code?
