Assembly 2026

Somerset House Studios’ experimental sound and music series returns with a three-day programme of new performances, installation and talks.

Taking place throughout Somerset House’s New Wing, the series activates the building’s neoclassical spaces with live concerts, audio explorations and critical conversations from a range of leading practitioners working across contemporary art and music.

Initiated in 2018, Assembly emerged from the recognition of sonic art and sound-based practices as a foundational pillar within the Studios’ resident artist community. Now in its fifth edition, the series continues to support the development of new composition and performance works, bringing together artists in a programme dedicated to commissions and premieres.

Working with a selection of current residents, alumni, guest artists and special short-term residency models, Assembly is characterised by its emphasis on experimentation; encouraging artists to push the boundaries of their practice, and instigating opportunities to realise ambitious, cross-disciplinary collaboration.
