Artists in Residence
This event is part of the Artists' Fair 2026
A discussion led by Hannah Perry, taking b-sides, a recent exhibition at Calcio in Bermondsey, organised by Perry, where she brought together studio works for friends and peers, to share without the pressure of exhibition narrative.
The panel will unpack why and how b-sides functions as a powerful metaphor—expanding on the shrinking space for DIY exhibitions and initiatives, why self-organisation is a strong strategy for mid-career artists, and the importance of sharing unfinished, uncertain and experimental work with peers.
The conversation will also consider how artists organising events with friends can provide context for connection, peer support and reinforce a sense of community in the increasingly busy and hyper-productive culture for which London is becoming notorious.
