Edible Utopia: Mass Mushrooming

This Earth Day Season features a special workshop to equip participants with the tools and skills needed to grow their own mushrooms at home.

Join us for a drop-in session giving an introduction to mushroom growing and the chance to make and take away your own “spawn bag” to nuture and grow. Participants will also get instructions on how to care for their mushrooms and a hand-out detailing further growing activities.

Attendees will form an informal network of mushroom growers, extending the lineage of our own mushrooms grown at Somerset House into the wider environment. This community will be invited to join future events and to update us on the successes and failures of their fledgling mushrooms.

Note – the workshop will operate on a first come first served basis, subject to capacity. Children must be supervised.

Mass Mushrooming is an extension of the educational food-growing project Edible Utopia which looks at growing food in the underused and hidden parts of Somerset House and explores creative responses to sustainability. Edible Utopia is kindly supported by City Bridge Trust.
